Background & Application
A pinch-off flange is used to permanently and hermetically seal an evacuated system or a vacuum component after the desired ultimate vacuum has been achieved.
Our Solution
G+P Engineering AG coordinated the machining process with specialized partner suppliers and performed TIG welding of the oxygen-free copper (Cu-OF) tube directly to the flange. This hybrid joint of copper and stainless steel places high demands on heat transfer and weld quality. Each part was then tested for leaks using helium.
